Every week, airlines launch new routes to expand their reach and serve travelers better.
Between June 10 and 16, 2025, several exciting international and domestic flights were added by different airlines.
Here’s a round-up of some of the most notable new routes that began during this period.
Virgin Australia Begins Flights to Doha, Qatar
Virgin Australia has launched a daily flight from Sydney to Doha, Qatar, starting June 12, 2025.
This move is in partnership with Qatar Airways, allowing travelers from Australia to connect easily to Europe and beyond.
Because Qatar Airways has used up its flight rights to Australia, Virgin Australia is operating these flights on their behalf using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Flights from Brisbane will begin on June 19, Perth on June 26, and Melbourne on December 1.
This partnership allows passengers more options for long-haul travel from Australia to the Middle East and Europe.
United Airlines Now Flies to Greenland
United Airlines made history on June 14, 2025, by launching direct flights from Newark, USA, to Nuuk, Greenland.
This is the first time a U.S. airline has served Greenland, and it’s a big step for tourism and connectivity.
The flight runs twice a week using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 and is available for the summer season until September 23.
The journey takes about 4 hours and connects travelers to Greenland’s beautiful Arctic landscapes.
Delta Launches Salt Lake City to Seoul Route
After many years, Salt Lake City in Utah now has direct flights to Asia again. On June 12, Delta Air Lines started a new daily route to Seoul, South Korea, using the Airbus A350-900.
This is now the longest flight from Salt Lake City and helps travelers connect to many parts of Asia through Delta’s partnership with Korean Air.
It’s a great addition for business travelers and tourists heading to East Asia.
Cathay Pacific Adds Munich, Germany to Its Network
Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific has started flying to Munich, Germany, with four weekly flights on the Airbus A350-900. The first flight landed on June 16, 2025.
This new route brings Cathay Pacific’s European destinations to 12 for 2025.
Lufthansa, Germany’s national airline, plans to reintroduce this route in October, creating competition for passengers traveling between Hong Kong and Munich.
Azul Launches Recife–Madrid Flights
Brazilian airline Azul launched new flights between Recife, Brazil, and Madrid, Spain on June 10, operating three times per week using a Boeing 767-300ER.
Even though the number of passengers on this route is small, Azul is betting on connecting traffic through Brazil to make the route successful.
Iberia will also return to this route in December with a more fuel-efficient aircraft, the Airbus A321XLR.
Ethiopian Airlines Expands to Hyderabad, India
Africa’s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines, added a new destination in India “Hyderabad” on June 16, flying from Addis Ababa three times weekly using the Boeing 737 MAX 8.
This makes Hyderabad the fifth Indian city served by Ethiopian.
The route is part of the airline’s growing presence in Asia, offering new travel opportunities for both business and tourism.
Anchorage Gets Two New Flights
Anchorage, Alaska, welcomed two notable flight launches this week:
1. Hawaiian Airlines from Seattle
On June 12, Hawaiian Airlines started double-daily flights from Seattle to Anchorage using Airbus A330-200 aircraft.
This is the first time in over 25 years that widebody jets are used for this route.
Hawaiian Airlines is now owned by Alaska Air Group, which explains this expansion.
2. Alaska Airlines from Sacramento
On June 14, Alaska Airlines introduced Saturday-only service between Anchorage and Sacramento, California, using the 737 MAX 9.
This is the first time ever these two cities have been directly connected by air.

Breeze Airways Adds Key West to Its Network
On June 12, Breeze Airways started flying to Key West, Florida, from both Orlando (4 flights per week) and Tampa (6 flights per week).
These new routes replace the now-closed airline Silver Airways, which stopped flying on June 10.
Breeze is tapping into strong travel demand in Florida, especially to popular vacation spots like Key West. With these additions, Breeze now operates three intra-Florida routes.
Frontier Airlines Launches 7 New Routes From Atlanta
Frontier Airlines began or resumed seven new routes from Atlanta on June 12 and 13, boosting its presence at the world’s busiest airport. The new destinations include:
- Columbus, OH
- Ft. Myers, FL
- Jacksonville, FL
- St. Louis, MO
- San Pedro Sula, Honduras
- Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
- West Palm Beach, FL
These flights are mostly operated two or three times a week and are aimed at providing low-cost options to popular domestic and international destinations.
